Swype or SwiftKey are not working properly on Untappd

So, while using Swype or SwiftKey, you seeing weird stuff when typing in the textareas (for Comments on Checkins and your comments on your checkin), on Text Boxes (search). What to do?

You might not like this solution - we have tested SwiftKey and Swype on 5 Android Devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T)
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Google)
  • ASUS Nexus 7
  • Samsung Galaxy S (Google)
  • Motorola Droid X

All of these phones have no problem with SwiftKey or Swype in any version of Android (2.3.x - 4.2.x). This being said, there are certain devices that have seem to have problem with these input devices. Our research shows the following phones may have issues:

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (Verizon) - Samsung Keyboard
  • Motorola Droid MAXX - SwiftKey
  • Any Device Running Jelly Bean (4.1.x) - Swype

In order to solve this problem, you can get the same affect of using Swype, but using Google officially supported Keyboards:

Google Keyboard: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.in...

This keyboard is official supported and worked perfectly with Untappd. If you are experiencing problem with your keyboard within Untappd, switch to this keyboard and you won't have any problems. Unfortunately, because our app is web-based, the developers of these third-party applications have not accounted for Web Use for their keyboards. We hope that in the future - they do - but in the meantime, for the highest compatibility - use the standard keyboard on your device on the Google one that I mentioned above.
